Know that tag-line phrase -- "stars, they're just like us"? Well, it's all too true in the case of the flu, which has been raging across the country, and has not spared anyone, including some of Hollywood's biggest stars.
Jennifer Lawrence 'fessed up on the Golden Globes red carpet that she had come down with the flu, and declined to shake Ryan Seacrest's hand because of it. Inside, cozied up in gray jacket over her glamorous dress while she sat in the audience.?
Of course, after she won best actress for her performance in "Silver Linings Playbook" there was no problem with spreading those germs around -- she was hugging everybody in sight. Onstage, it was hard to know whether her persistent sniffles were due to excitement -- or that flu.
Hugh Jackman, winner for?best actor in a comedy or musical for "Les Miserables," put on his best Wolverine tough-guy attitude despite battling the flu.?But don't take his?bad health advice -- in his acceptance speech, he joked the flu shot wasn't necessary after all since, ?"I feel great!"
Jackman?and Lawrence certainly don't look like the rest of us?flu-stricken mortals -- no red-ringed eyes or raw noses were in sight.
And one of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's first comments on stage as the ceremony began involved nominee Meryl Streep ("Hope Springs") also ailing, and so deciding to skip the ceremony. "She has the flu, and I hear she's amazing in it," said Poehler. ?
"She steals it, she steals the flu," added Fey.
