Before the season started, if you asked me who the biggest rising star in baseball was I wouldn't say Bryce Harper, I'd say Mike Trout. Trout was drafted in the 1st round, 25th overall, in the 2009 draft by the Angels. He put up incredible numbers in the minor leagues and really opened some eyes in doing so as he showed off incredible natural tools. The Angels did not hesitate to call him up?as they promoted him to the show last fall. He went on to show his defensive skills and energetic playing style. He didn't hit as well as many expected, but he wouldn't be first hotshot rookie to struggle.?Trout finished the season having a .220 batting average with 5 homers and 16 RBI in 135 at-bats.? The avereg was ugly but Trout gave a glimpse of his vaste potential in hitting those five home runs and stealing 4 bases.
Enter 2012. Trout was drastically overshadowed by the Bryce Harper hype earlier this season. He didn't start the year with the big league club, but he put up good enough numbers in Triple-A to earn him a promotion.?To say that Trout?has made the most with his time up here is the understatement of the century. Trout is hitting? and absurd .340 with 10 home runs, 36 RBI, and 22 stolen bases which?is incredible. When you factor in that Trout is still not even 21 years old, you can understand how out of control the hype has become.? Flat out, Trout is going to wind up being the difference-maker in scores of owners winning their leagues this season and he already is the "must have" player for 2013 drafts.? Only two months into his career, Trout unbelievably is closing in on being a first round pick in drafts next winter and I can't ever remember another player rising this fast.? The sky is the limit for the kid and he clearly has the stuff to be the top fantasy baseball outfielder for the next decade.
Trout is the future of the MLB, and he will put up great numbers throughout his career. From a fantasy standpoint, he is probably already taken in your league. If you own him, please do not sell him while his value is high. He is the real deal. If you don't own him, like Carlos Gonzalez, I wouldn't give up all your good players to get him rather I'd try to get him early in next year's fantasy draft.
